We went for Ocean's 13 last night (it was great, btw - the little dig that Clooney makes at Pitt in the last line was hilarious!). 
Anyways, we watched it at the INOX cinemas in the Citicenter. The show started at 10.15pm. We arrived there 10 pm Sunday night to find the Citicenter teeming with people! On a Sunday night - at 10 pm! Chennai has come a long long way! It was filled with people eating, shopping and chatting!

I've always found that Chennai has a good nightlife... and the city is bustling at all times... many people think it is a dead place. Anyone who thinks that should please drop by Delhi :)
Raaga - hey, thats so not true!! 10 years ago, when you drove home at 10 pm everything would be dead. Nowadays, at 10 they even shut the traffic lights! But I must say that now the traffic is still going strong at midnight! :)
I agree with you about Delhi though - I was scared to go out alone after sunset because it was so dead on the street - or atleast they weren't "favorable" characters, as my mom would say! lol!
I don't know. I've not had a problem... have been out late... more than once :) I remember 'cos my folks won't let me forget ;-) and didn't think things were too different. Remember telling Amma that it doesn't matter if its 11 p.m. or 4 a.m. or 12 noon, there's a perennial buzz on the streets.
Raaga - thats good - maybe i didnt know because my parents didnt allow me to see that part of chennai! lol!
At one time, my friend called me and said, "I was out at midnight and Madras is truly beautiful then" I said, "My parents won't let me out at that time unless I'm married" Then he said, "But you are running away from marriage, then why the hurry now?" I said, 'No hurry to get married as I am no hurry to see Madras at midnight... and I actually was out on the roads of Madras at midnight... on the night of my wedding... with my husband... a whole 5 years after this conversation :)
hmm...though i did say my parents didnt allow me out till i was 21, I did get to see Chennai night life couple of times by myself! :)

aiyo rama! just my thoughts - impressive to see people shopping in droves at 10 pm - just found it unusual for chennai. not saying anything against chennai! after all, i blog about the city, and i do love it here.
i can quite believe you abt delhi. have spent a summer working there...
Compared to Europe, Nightlife in Chennai doesn't offer much though...I've tried to make a comprehensive list of places to go out to in Chennai on http://chennai-expat.blogspot.com, maybe you guys have look and comment if you have more tips to go out in Chennai

Hi, I came from the US for holidays and will spend the next 10 days in Chennai. I would love to go to this place but what turns me down is that I need a girl to go inside.
While the US concept is to find a girl inside the bar here it is opposite.
